The 'Family Affair' hitmaker claims the group's track 'Keep On Moving' turned her life around and gave her hope during her early years growing up in the tough housing projects of New York.

She said:"'Keep On Moving"saved my life. That record just seemed like it shed some light in my life. It just felt so warm and good. We needed that when we were growing up in the projects. I first heard that song on the radio, and just blasted it. I'm serious. It was our song ' a black people's song."

Mary never forgot her roots after becoming a global R&B star and has supported a number of charities including establishing her Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN) which offers scholarships and programmes whose aim is to foster self-esteem and career development in people usually from more deprived backgrounds.

The foundation recently announced an auction to raise money, which has seen Christina Aguilera donate tickets to her TV show 'The Voice' and Jay-Z offer an internship at his music management and publishing company Roc Nation among generous gifts from many other stars.

Brett Anderson announces live dates

Brett Anderson releases a brand new solo album 'Black Rainbows' on EMI Records on Sep 26.

The album sees Brett return to the rock format he is most identified with through his work with Suede and is the first rock album he has made for 6 years. It was conceived over a 3 day session in January last year when Brett, producer Leo Abrahams, Seb Rochford and Leopold Ross worked on 20 different pieces, which gradually evolved into songs.

Anderson describes the album as 'restless, noisy and dynamic. Electric guitars, bass, drums and vocals ' no flute players, no strings, no gimmicks, just passion'.

The album is preceded by the single 'Brittle Heart' which is available as a download on August 15.

Both the single and album were produced by Leo Abrahams and appear as part of a new deal with EMI Records.

Brett will play two live dates in October, for which tickets go on sale this Friday, May 20.

The 'Born This Way' hitmaker ' who has dubbed her fans her 'little monsters' ' explained while she is looking forward to starting a family in the future, she is concentrating on keeping her followers happy at the moment.

She said: ' think at some point, yeah, I'll have a family and babies and all those things, but not right now.

"Not for a while. Right now I have lots of fans. I'm giving birth to lots of little monsters, so I need to keep down the stretch marks."

The 25-year-old singer ' real name Stefani Germanotta ' revealed she is also hoping to make her directorial debut behind the camera in the future.

She added to E! News: ' think if anything I might do something directorial first. I'm really just a musician and a pop singer and I just want to keep making records. Right now I'm just really excited about the new tour."

Lady Gaga also admitted the egg she hatched out of at this year's Grammy Awards has not been put away for good, and she might bring it out again during her upcoming tour.

Asked whether fans can expect to see the egg again, she said: ' don't know. I talk about that a lot. Right now, it's just sort of an endless performance piece have to do with this idea of rebirth and death and the cycle of life.'

The 'Save Room' singer is a huge fan of the new judge of 'The X Factor' US, and although he won't be tuning in to watch the show, he has offered to her establish her as a solo star in America.

He said: 'Whatever Cheryl needs, I'm glad to help. But I'm sure she will be fine.

The 'You're Beautiful' hitmaker - who has dated model Petra Nemcova and British socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson ' insists no one should aspire to sleep with a famous person, because they are not necessarily good in bed, and there are others more deserving of affection.

He said:"Just because someone is famous it doesn't mean they will be a great s**g.

"Aid workers, teachers, doctors, nurses, the military - people who save lives are who you should aim to sleep with. Think of it as a reward for what they do for the world."

The singer and husband Nick Cannon ' who became parents to son Moroccan Scott and daughter Monroe on April 30 ' were shocked when she was accused of putting the babies at risk by drinking alcohol and taking drugs in her hospital room, with the 'America's Got Talent' host branding the allegations 'ridiculous'.

He told TV talk show host Piers Morgan:"Recently, the Child Protective Services were called with allegations that there was some drinking and drugs and all that going on, wild in the hospital, which makes no sense to me - how would a hospital allow that?

't all started when a nurse suggested to my wife that if you drink Guinness, the dark beer, the yeast improves breastfeeding. I don't know if someone heard that, but then they were saying my wife was drinking beer. People will do anything to try to conjure up a story.

' spoke to the person from the Child Protective Services, I was like, 'This is ridiculous. We're going to make sure that this isn't a case.'

'To even have to deal with that, my wife in the state that she's in, we're in the hospital, to even have to think about someone possibly wanting to investigate your children. it's sad at the end of the day.'

Nick, 30, also admitted he is astonished at the lengths people have gone to with their attempts to get pictures of the babies.

He added: 'There's been photographers actually in the hospital posing as different people or people trying to get pictures of the kids, which is really sad when you think about people trying to make a buck off newborn babies."

The Kills give away free track and release intimate studio footage

Following the release of their critically acclaimed fourth album 'Blood Pressures', The Kills are to make available a remix of 'Satellite' by London dub producer extraordinaire 'The Bug' (King Midas Sound). The track is available to stream and download for free via Soundcloudhere.

The band have also released a very special short film containing intimate studio footage produced by thirtytwo, the makers of Blur's Grammy nominated 'No Distance Left To Run' documentary. The video tells the story of the recording of 'Blood Pressures' and also features clips of several stripped back live acoustic recordings, including 'Pots And Pans', 'Baby Says' and 'The Last Goodbye'. The renowned film makers have also worked with the likes of the Arctic Monkeys, Elbow and Bjork.

The Kills have also confirmed a headline tour and a number of festival dates in the UK, including a sold out show at the Roundhouse London on June 3rd.

The band has invited Cat's Eyes, the new project of Faris Badwan and Rachel Zeffira, to be special guests at their Roundhouse show. Mute Records' SCUM will open that night and guest at all regional shows, with Wigan duo Brown Brogues opening at all shows except London and Manchester.

A number of festival dates have also been added, including Glastonbury (The Other Stage) and Reading&Leeds.

Beyonce Knowles disguised herself as animated dog Goofy on a recent trip out.

The 29-year-old singer was thrilled to take time off to take her six-year-old nephew Julez to Disneyland and admits she made a 'fool of herself' with her light-hearted attempt to avoid unwanted attention at the Californian theme park.

She said: ' got a day off to take my nephew to Disneyland, which was so much fun. I haven't done anything like that in probably 10 years - the last time I was at a theme park was with Destiny's Child! We rode all the rides, some of them twice, and it was my nephew's first time on a roller coaster.

'There were thousands of people there because it was Easter, but everyone was really polite and respectful, and let us walk around and have a great time.

' had on the biggest Goofy hat! It was supposed to be a disguise, with this big brim that covered my face, and floppy ears on the sides, but by the end of the trip I realized that people knew I was making a fool of myself in this hat. It was a really nice memory for me.'

She told Billboard.com:"It's not that anything bad happened between us. My family has my support always, and they support me, but when you've been working with the same people for 15 years, it's natural to eventually have your own ideas.

"I believe that parents prepare their kids for the moment that they're on their own: at this point, I'm taking everything my dad and my mother have taught me, and I'm able to do things my way. We were at a point where we'd learned so much from each other, and now it's exciting for me to do this on my own and hire my own team. I've started managing myself."

The 65-year-old Blondie singer finds ageing tough because sometimes she is concerned about the way she dresses and other times she thinks she looks great.

In an interview with Stylist magazine, she said:"It goes from moment to moment. Sometimes I'm thinking, 'Oh God, I'm really looking good!' And others I go, 'Oh my God.'

The 'Kiss Kiss' hitmaker attacked the 23-year-old singer, his then-girlfriend, in 2009, leaving her with a split lip and a multitude of facial cuts, and his mum ' who is a victim of domestic violence of herself ' thinks he needs to open up about the situation in order to"move on with his own life".

Joyce Hawkins told Sister 2 Sister magazine:"I think he really needs to talk about the situation in itself, what actually happened to Rihanna, so that he can get that out for himself.

"He has to learn to deal with it and go on with his life. This is something that happened; it was a huge mistake, it was not good at all. But he is still a human being and we all make mistakes and we live and we go on with it. But he has to own it, deal with it and move on with his life."

Rihanna recently admitted she doesn't expect to ever"make up"with the 22-year-old singer but agreed to have the terms of his five-year restraining order against her relaxed as it was stopping him from attending events important to his career.

She said:"It doesn't mean we're gonna make up, or even talk again. It just means I didn't want to object to the judge. We don't have to talk again ever in my life. I just didn't want to make it more difficult for him professionally.

"What he did to me was a personal thing. It had nothing to do with his career. Saying he has to be a hundred feet away from me, he can't perform at awards shows, that definitely made it difficult for him. That was the only thing it was going to change, so I didn't care."

UK pop star Pixie Lott has deigned a new summer clothing range for UK clothing company Lipsy.

Lott's lot has been divided into two categories, 'Pixie Party' and 'California Dreaming'.

The clothing range will be launched on May 24.

20-year old Pixie Lott debuted on the UK chart in June 2009 with 'Mama Do'. He reached no. 1 as did her second single 'Boys and Girls'

Last year she also contributed to John Farnham's album 'Jack'. She wrote the song 'You Took My Love' on Farnham's most recent album.

White Lies announce new single 'Holy Ghost'

White Lies have announced details of the release of a new single. Holy Ghost will be released through Fiction Records on Monday June 20th 2011.

The single is a reworked version of the track taken from their 2nd album Ritual, released earlier this year.

Released on 7' and download, the single was produced and mixed by Alan Moulder (Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, My Bloody Valentine, Depeche Mode), and mastered by Nilesh Patel (Daft Punk, Justice).

Ritual was released in January of this year; the album reached number 3 in the U.K. album charts, charted top 10 in many countries worldwide and made the top 20 in the U.S. i-Tunes chart.

Sir Elton John welled up as he watched Prince William and Kate Middleton marry yesterday (29.04.11).

The 'Tiny Dancer' singer was one of a handful of celebrity guests invited into Westminster Abbey in London to see the royal couple wed, and as he watched the union, he appeared almost moved to tears.

Elton was sat next to his husband, David Furnish, in the front row of the Abbey for the proceedings. The singer was a close friend of William's mother Diana, and performed at her funeral after her death

in a car crash in 1997.

Other celebrities among the wedding's 1,900 guests included soccer star David Beckham and his wife Victoria, invited after David worked closely with the prince on England's bid to host the 2018 World Cup.

The couple described the ceremony as 'beautiful and heartfelt,' before adding to BBC news: 'Catherine looked wonderfully elegant, and we were honoured to be part of such a special, historical day for our country.

"We wish Catherine and William much love and happiness for the future.'

Also in attendance at the wedding were film director Guy Ritchie, actor Rowan Atkinson and singer Joss Stone.

Many celebrities took to twitter to pay their respects to the happy couple, including singer George Michael, who had recorded a version of Stevie Wonder's track 'You and I' as a present for the couple.
