Pete Wentz plans to take his family on tour

The 31-year-old rocker ' who has a two-year-old son Bronx Mowgli with wife Ashlee Simpson-Wentz ' has been in 'dad-land' over the last year and is looking forward to returning to work with new band Black Cards, particularly as his child is now old enough to 'see the world'.

Pete said:"The great thing right now is that my family is very mobile and are able to tour with me. And I think that's the only thing that would've been a hurdle. But the fact they're kind of able to go, I want to be back out there.

"And it's really cool to be able to see the world and to do it on a record company's dime, so I'd like to kind of do that and I'd like to show my son the world as well."

Pete is also taking part in a charity competition, where he leads one of four teams ' with the others fronted by Run-DMC's Reverend Run Simmons, New York Yankees star Nick Swisher and tennis ace Serena Williams ' who are trying to get to Dallas for the Super Bowl in a race fuelled by tweets and the musician is happy to be raising money for a children's charity.

He explained in an interview with website PopEater:"My charity is St. Jude's Children Hospital. It's really an important charity to me, especially since becoming a dad the past two years of my life now and god forbid my son ever got sick.

"It's good people who are doing good things for children."

'The Octopus' is a major work that has stylistic echoes of Led Zeppelin and Rush and a vision that invites comparisons to Pink Floyd's The Wall or Queensrÿche's 'Operation: Mindcrime'

Beyonce in talks with Clint Eastwood on film remake

Beyonce and Clint Eastwood are in talks to produce a remake of A Star Is Born.

Associated Press reports that Warner Bros has confirmed that the two are negotiating to film a version of the oft-remade 1937 film.

The film centres around an aspiring Hollywood actress and her relationship with an actor on the wane.

It was remade in 1954 with Judy Garland and James Mason and again in 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson.

The producers of the 1976 version, Billy Gerber, Basil Iwanyk and Jon Peters, are slated to produce Clint Eastwood's new version.

Beyonce has long been attached as the lead but there is no word so far on the male co-star.

A Warner Bros spokeswoman said that deals have not been finalised but that negotiations are taking place.

In a cute little coincidence, Beyonce's husband Jay-Z had a Kanye West-produced song called 'A Star Is Born' on his 2009 album The Blueprint 3.

Funeral Party label The Drums as 'Primadonas'

Funeral Party have been laying into fellow Americans The Drums on Xfm.

Speaking to Steve Harris on the 02 Evening Show last night (January 19) it would appear the two bands didn't get on very well on a recent tour.

When questioned about their message to Jonathan Pierce and co the response was:

"You suck! No, just kidding, we love you guys really, lets do another tour together we'll steal more of your alcohol. They're just primadonnas and we're just cool guys. We didn't have a tour bus, they did - that just sums it up right there."

The LA rockers - who's debut album 'Golden Age of Nowhere' is out a week on Monday - also had a go at some Xfm royalty even if some of their comments were lost in translation:

"I like The Smiths but Morrissey's just, I don't know - what's the English term - a Twot?"

Joe Bonamassa

Provogue Records has announced that world renowned guitarist Joe Bonamassa will release his 12th full-length solo album, DUST BOWL in the UK on Monday March 21st 2011 (US release is March 22nd).

The album will coincide with Bonamassa's forthcoming 'Dust Bowl 2011 World Tour' that will take in cities across America, Canada, Europe, Asia and Australia.

' think Dust Bowl is the best album we've ever done,' says Bonamassa. ''m finding more inspiration in storytelling in my 30s, in writing songs that are about something more profound than 'my baby left me.' I like albums that are made with the right intentions and sound organic and a little rough around the edges, like a great band playing live in the room.'

Dust Bowl is Joe Bonamassa's sixth collaboration with producer Kevin 'The Caveman' Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Black Crowes, Black Country Communion) and features collaborations with Nashville legends Vince Gill and John Hiatt, female vocalist Beth Hart, and Joe's Black Country Communion band-mate, Glenn Hughes.

DUST BOWL is the follow-up to 2010's Black Rock, which entered the Official UK Album Chart at #14, and the self-titled debut album from Black Country Communion, the Bonamassa-helmed, British-American rock supergroup featuring Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian. BCC debuted at #1 on the UK Rock Album Chart and at #13 on the official UK Album Chart.

Scottish Alternative Music Awards site launches with exclusive live stream

Last year the first ever S.A.M.A ceremony saw bands such as a pimped out La Fontaines pick up an award and hosts included Jim Gellatly and Billy Kirkwood as a packed out Classic Grand witnessed a night of award winning live music with a celebratory atmosphere.

Http://www.sama11.co.uk/ launched this week in a rather unique and interesting fashion as special, surprise guests The Winter Tradition played a live, acoustic performance that was streamed online to hundreds of music fans in Scotland and round the world.

I caught up with Richey Muirhead (Father of the SAMA's brainchild) and asked him about it all."Last year I was blown away by he response so obviously it made a lot of sense to do it again this year bigger and better than last time"He obviously has more expectation on his shoulders this year so it was a shrewd move to launch the official site with a set from a popular band from our nation's capital.

Speaking on The Winter Traditions online set"I loved their acoustic performance, the sound quality was great and everyone in the stream stuck around until the end. Good atmosphere! It was a slight risk, but if you don't try these things - you'll never know the outcome. It was certainly a nice way to welcome the official website! Big thanks to the band."

He was slightly more coy about who will be playing the SAMAs this year (Classic Grand, Glasgow on Feb 25th) and who is nominated"Nominees and further surprises will be announced over the next few weeks. Keep your eyes on the website and twitter!"he said. Not even so much as a hint but surely The Winter Tradition must be in with a shout for a nomination (or Two?)

Bootleg Beatles seek new John Lennon

The country's first and foremost tribute band the Bootleg Beatles, are on the look-out for a new Lennon to replace Neil Harrison who is retiring from the band after 31 years.

The bands flawless and authentic performances have wowed audiences and media alike. Even former Beatle, George Harrison, was impressed enough to quip 'You probably know the chords better than I do!' after seeing their performance. So outstanding musicianship and vocals are a must - a physical resemblance to the great man wouldn't go amiss either!

The Bootleg Beatles perform over 30 UK theatre&arena shows a year, including their annual sell-out date at the Royal Albert Hall. Last year also saw them tour South America&Europe as well as performing a headline set on the Acoustic Stage at the Glastonbury Festival.

To be considered for audition, aspiring Lennons should submit an mp3 and/or mp4, photo&CV to auditions@bootlegbeatles.com.

Gwyneth Paltrow lets her daughter take sick days to visit the beauty salon

Gwyneth Paltrow lets her daughter take sick days from school so they can visit the beauty salon together.

The 'Country Strong' actress - who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin ' admitted she recently allowed six-year-old Apple to stay at home during term time because she just 'needed' some bonding time with the youngster.

She said: ''ll probably get kicked out of our school for admitting this, but I let Apple stay home yesterday. I just needed to be with her.

'We went out to lunch, we went to the beauty salon, we were together.'

However, 38-year-old Gwyneth admitted Apple's day off caused problems at home when her daughter told her four-year-old brother Moses he would be allowed to skip lessons too.

Apple told him:"Tomorrow is your day to stay home from school."

Although with juggling her responsibilities as a mother, Gwyneth admitted her marriage is not always perfect but said she and 33-year-old Chris try to communicate as much as possible.

She explained to America's Good Housekeeping magazine:"Marriage is hard. Chris and I have had our ups and downs, big-time. Marriage is way more complicated than just, 'Who gets to control the remote?' But hopefully we keep heading in the same direction and getting through the obstacles.

"I'm a good talker. I definitely have to coax things out of him when we talk. You know, he's British, so it's a different lexicon totally. But you have to communicate. Otherwise there's no relationship

"I can depend on him. He makes me laugh. He's really appreciative of me. You know, he makes me feel special."

Jane Lynch's 'Glee' character is inspired by Simon Cowell

The 50-year-old actress ' who plays scathing cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester on the US TV show ' believes there are many similarities between the teacher and the straight-talking talent show judge.

She said:"If ever there was a guy who tells it like it is, then it's Simon Cowell. You could definitely look at Sue and say there's a lot of Simon in her.

"He's a great inspiration for the character of Sue - there is a lot that I can take from him and put into her."

Jane also admitted she is 'amazed' by the public's reaction to Sue and believes people admire her in the same way they respect music mogul Simon.

She explained in an interview with The Sun newspaper:"Simon and Sue say the things people wish they could in their jobs or at their school, but can't because it's not the done thing.

"Just like him, she says what she wants because she can - there is nobody there to tell either of them to stop."

The similarity is so great 'Glee' fans have even set up a Facebook group pleading for Sue to join the 'X Factor' panel ' and Jane agrees her character would make a"fantastic"judge, though she would probably clash with Simon.

She said:"People have asked me, 'What about having Sue on 'The X Factor'? How would she do?' I think she'd be fantastic - and there would be a few contestants reduced to tears.

"It can never happen, though. Simon and Sue on the same judging panel will never work in a million years - there's only room for one ego on the show!"

Funeral For A Friend new album and tour

FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND are set to release their fifth studio album 'Welcome Home Armageddon' on 14th March through Distiller Records.

New track 'Front Row Seats To The End of The World' will be released as a free download on 24th January. The visceral explosion of riffs, screams and melody is one that fans of the band already know and love but the constant shifts of gear in rhythm and twists and turns in this track will keep everyone guessing as to what's round each corner.

Drummer / vocalist Ryan Richards takes the lead on 'Front Row.' and he comments ' 't was a lot of fun for me to do a lead vocal again on a track, as it's probably something I've not done since way back on the first record - and even then it was a co-vocal with Matt on tracks like 'Red Is The New Black' and 'This Year's Most Open Heartbreak'. It's also the first track I've ever done finger snaps on too! I remember reading the liner notes to Michael Jackson's 'Bad' and seeing him credited with 'Vocals and Finger Snaps' and it inspired me to one day be credited as such on one of our albums. I've now dreamed the dream - and it's a beautiful thing.'

It's a taster of what's to come on Funeral For A Friend's fifth studio album, produced by Romesh Dodangoda, which will be released through Distiller Records in March. The band will also hit the road in March / April next year with a string of dates at intimate venues, some of which are in towns they've never actually played before. Support on these dates will come from fast rising British band Rise To Remain. The tour has now been expanded due to high demand.

Dave Ghrohl to recieve NME Godlike Genius award 2011

DAVE GROHL TO RECEIVE NME GODLIKE GENIUS AWARD 2011

The Shockwaves NME Awards 2011 is today proud to announce the winner of its prestigious NME Godlike Genius Award: front man of multi-platinum-selling rock band Foo Fighters and US rock legend, Dave Grohl.

Grohl will pick up the NME Godlike Genius Award in person ' and perform with Foo Fighters ' at the exclusive Shockwaves NME Awards 2011 ceremony at the O2 Academy Brixton on Wednesday February 23rd.

Grohl says: 't's really flattering and really good company to be in. It's a nice thing to be acknowledge for doing something that you love to do, but in truth I don't consider it a body of work because I don't consider it work, I just consider it this incredible luxury that I get to play music and travel the world and feed my kids. It's pretty great. Awards and lists can get silly sometimes but I'm very appreciative of this. It's really cool to be called a godlike genius!'

NME editor Krissi Murison says: 'An NME Godlike Genius is a very rare thing. To qualify, an artist must not only be a musical visionary, have an unparalleled legacy and a decade-spanning career, but also still be meaningful to young bands and music fans today. Whether it's headlining the world's greatest festivals, staging his own mega-gigs, releasing a series of hugely successful albums, collaborating with everyone from The Prodigy to Paul McCartney or still surprising fans with projects like Them Crooked Vultures, Dave Grohl is at the centre of everything interesting that is happening in music.

'But the Godlike Genius Award is no victory lap. It marks recognition of a stellar career thus far, and signals there's a lot more to come. With a new Foo Fighters album, festival appearances and giant gigs around the globe booked this year, the NME is recognising an artist who is still in his ascendancy and one we confidently predict will dominate music for a long time yet.'

The NME Godlike Genius Award is the highest accolade bestowed at the Shockwaves NME Awards. The culmination of the evening, it recognises truly the best of the best. Chipmunks sue EMI

Well, not really the Chipmunks, but the current controller of everything Alvin, Simon and Theodore, Ross Bagdasarian, Jr., the son of the man who created the characters in the fifties.

Bagdasarian has brought suit against EMI in U.S. District Court for breach of contract and copyright infringement, saying that the company infringed on 24 of his songs. He is looking for statutory damages of up to $150,000 for a potential total of $3.6 million. This is based on the stated terms of the license with EMI that requires them to pay nine cents per copy of each composition whether it is sold or not (i.e., if they press it, they will pay).

This isn't the first lawsuit recently brought by Bagdasarian against an entertainment conglomerate. In 2009, he sued 20th Century Fox for half the profits on Alvin&the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel, a film that grossed over $200 million.

Ross Bagdasarian, Sr. created the singing rodents in the 50's, by speeding up his own singing voice. He then dubbed himself David Seville and had major hits with The Chipmunk Song (1958/#1), Alvin's Harmonica (1959/#3) and Ragtime Cowboy Joe (1959/#16). The franchise eventually spun off into TV series and the very successful movies.

Justin Bieber thinks he is 'nuts'

The 16-year-old pop star suffers from insomnia and can't stop himself from thinking about his loved ones, career and 'God' when his head hits the pillow at night, but believes his problems are a sign of his talent.

He said: ''m crazy, I'm nuts. Just the way my brain works. I'm not normal. I think differently - my mind is always racing. I'm just . nuts. But I think the best musicians probably are.

' just turn over all night and think. My mind races. I think about all the things I didn't have time to think about during the day - like family and God and things that should be more important but you don't have time to think about, because you just get caught up in everything else during the day.'

Justin is enjoying his worldwide success but he accepts his fame comes at a price and he knows he can't just to whatever he wants and has a responsibility to his fans.

He explained to the February edition of Vanity Fair magazine: 't's hard to really balance myself. A regular kid, if he catches the flu, he just gets to go home. But I can't do that . Everything is important. But, you know, my sanity is important, too. Even if I'm angry, I'll just put a smile on my face and fake it. I don't often fake it - what's me is me. I know I have to give up a lot of myself, or a lot of a private life.'

Despite the problems his singing career cause him, the 'Baby' singer won't ever give up on his career and plans to push himself as far as he can.

He said: ' see myself just growing. I didn't know that any of this was really possible. I grew up in a really small town with not a lot of money, and I liked singing, but it was just something that was a hobby. As I get into it more, I want to grow as an artist, as an entertainer, and basically perfect my craft. I want to be the best that I can be.'

Carl Barat has become a father for the first time

The 32-year-old musician confirmed on twitter his girlfriend Edie Langley gave birth to a boy named Eli over the festive period.

He wrote on his twitter page: 'Mehreh Christmas one and all. I am the devastatingly proud father of a boy, who's name is Eli. X(sic)'

The Libertines rocker had formerly predicted he would be spending the holidays with his new baby, who was due on Christmas Day (25.12.10).

He said: 'How will I spend Christmas? Well, I'm having a baby so I don't know. Maybe we'll end up spending it in a manger. Or a maternity ward.

"She's due around Christmas Day. I'll probably be in a maternity ward, although there's all kinds of Christmas metaphors you can make.

"I've got a plethora of wise men on standby."

Discussing his highlights of 2010, Carl added the baby and the reformation of The Libertines with Pete Doherty were peaks of his year.

He added: 'My personal highlight, I guess my baby. Apart from that, The Libertines reunion. But my baby comes first.

"With the Libertines, all those years of doubts and potentially falling through the many vortexes and pitfalls of speculation and conjecture regarding the band, their mythology and their actuality, I think it was withdrawn from any negatives and I felt so happy to be at the centre of something so many people were using as a catalyst for such joy."

Shania Twain has got married

The 'Still The One' singer tied the knot with Swiss businessman Frederic Thiebaud in Puerto Rico on New Year's Day (01.01.11) just weeks after their engagement was announced.

Her representative told People magazine:"They were married at sunset in Rincon, Puerto Rico, in front of 40 of their closest family and friends."

Following news of their engagement, Shania took to her blog to express her delight at the news and said she was excited about her future.

She said:"2010 is leaving me with a renewed faith in love and commitment. ... Talking about love, I am excited to share some personal news with you; I'm in love! Frederic Nicolas Thiebaud has been a true gift to me as a compassionate, understanding friend and over time, an amazing love has blossomed from this precious friendship. Fred and I are happy to announce, our ENGAGEMENT! (sic)"

Shania was previously married to Robert 'Mutt' Lange but their 14-year union ended in May 2008 after he embarked on a relationship her friend and Frederic's ex-wife Marie-Anne Thiebaud and she has said that experience has shown her who her true friends really are.

Shania - who has a nine-year-old son, Eja, with her ex - said:"In the last two and a half years of adjusting to life after separation and divorce, I needed to lean on others more often than I was accustomed to. These people have been gifts, and I am fortunate to have so many of these beautiful people - friends, family and beloved fans, who's support I cherish more deeply with each day that passes. Now another year is about to pass, and I would like to thank everyone who helped me believe that new beginnings are possible and that love can be trusted."
